Calls for the state registration of counsellors and psychotherapists
John Farrelly - chairing the submission to government calling for the state registration of counsellors and psychotherapists.
The event took place in the Davenport Hotel on September 23rd. The submission was the outcome of three years work by the Psychological Therapy forum. The forum represented over twenty counseling and psychotherapy organizations and over 5000 therapists. The submission sets forward clear recommendations to ensure that therapists will be trained and monitored to standards that will give clients the highest standard of care, service and protection. The submission was accepted by Minister of State with responsibility for Disability and Mental Health at the Department of Health and Children.
